DJ CAT
Radio Producer/Presenter, Compere, Writer, Vocalist & D.J.
Cat produces and presents ‘Up and Out’, a live breakfast show, every weekday on 97.2FM in Brighton with a strong gay listenership. The show is specifically aimed at being inclusive of a gay audience. It is the only mainstream FM, primetime show in the UK to include gay news headlines every day and feature gay listings daily.
Cat’s first foray into radio was with London’s original gay radio station Purple Radio on DAB and SKY, later bought out by Gaydar. She has been broadcasting in Brighton for the last 3 years and over her time in radio has interviewed guests from ITV’s ‘Bad Girls’ and Leticia Dean - ‘Sharon’ from Eastenders to Jhelisa and The Freemasons.
An adaptable compere and host; Cat has worked on a diverse mix of events from hosting the Olympic Handover Ceremony for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, to being organiser/referee/compere of the infamous Lesbian Mud wrestling events in Brighton and London.
Cat has been a regular compere for events including ‘Twisted Karaoke’, charity auctions, comedy nights, Pop Idol, etc – and has worked at many venues in Brighton; Candy Bar, Charles Street, Ghetto, Hanbury Ballrooms, Amsterdam, Queens Head, Komedia, etc. and in London for Candy Bar, Popbarz, Rouge, Duckie, The Orange etc.
Musically speaking, Cat is not your archetypal D.J.; she not so much mixes as mashes. She drops tunes to throw shapes to… Her playlists span decades and genres Rock, Hip-hop, Indie, Punk, Funk, R&B………
Cat has featured on the covers of both 3Sixty and GScene and featured in Pink Paper, Diva, The Argus, Absolute TV, GScene and presented awards at Brighton’s Golden Handbag awards.
Cat likes: fireworks, kick-boxing, singing, tequila and cake! and is happy to be working with Refire, Djing up and down the country, spreading happiness all the way!!!!!
