LADY LA RUE
“International Cabaret Star, West-End Darling, the Toast of Broadway and the Talk of Every Town…even Slough!”
Born into the business, she was a child star long before Bonnie Langford had ringlets and began her career at just a few days old with her family in their dazzling high-wire trapeze act, “The Flying LaRue’s”.
Following the tragic death of her entire family in a freak safety net/oily gym slipper incident, she went on to study the arts at Le Conservatiore De Musique Fantastique Internationale (Purley Way, Croydon – opposite Land of Leather). There, she spent three years successfully studying her Puccini and upon graduating, even Signor Pavarotti remarked on her tight aria and massive tessitura.
Variety is Lady LaRue’s catchword having appeared in every major entertainment field including theatre, film, television and radio. She has also glittered up the stage in Cabaret, Royal Command Performance, Vaudeville, Music Hall, Cirque Du Soleil, Moulin Rouge, The Folies Bergère, Aesops Fables, The Chichester Cycle, The Mystery Plays, Two Girls One Cup, Hot Gossip, Stars on 45, The Mousetrap... The list really is endless! Many will remember her work as the original narrator of the Doomsday Book and even in Ancient Rome, where she donned her gladiator sling backs and entertained the crowd as the warm-up girl at The Coliseum.
Nowadays, she is a regular in panto and recently completed a sell-out, five-shows-a-day, ten week run at The Palladium. This resulted in a Guinness World Record for LaRue, garnering her the prestigious title of “The Woman With The World’s Most Viewed Twankey”. The award was presented to her by an envious Cheryl Baker (who hardly ever gets her Twankey out these days!)
Future projects include her first foray into the world of hard-hitting documentary journalism (in heels), “Lady LaRue On Gangs” plus her one-woman, musical spectacular, “Hedda Gabler On Ice” to be presented at the now derelict Streatham Leisure Centre.
